Guam PONY Baseball Softball had 4 games at the Triple J Baseball Complex on Okkodo High School this past Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, the feature matchup was between the Tigers and 76 Cougars. This was a close game throughout and came down to the final out with the score tied in the bottom of the 7th inning. After starting pitcher Franklin Ninete Jr issued a walk to Noa Mendiola, Michael Aguero came in relief to face the heart of the Tigers lineup. Mendiola then promptly stole both 2nd and 3rd to put the Tigers in the driver's seat to seal the victory. But, with the winning run on 3rd, Aguero got CJ Tenorio to hit a soft liner to Ricardo Leon Guerrero for the final out of the game, resulting in a hard fought 4-4 tie as the 2 hour time limit expired in the 6th inning. For the visiting Cougars, Franklin Ninete pitched a solid 5 2/3 innings recorded 7 strikeouts, Jordan Glover went 2-3 batting with a walk and run scored. The Tigers Noa Mendiola pitched 5 strong innings, striking out 6, Ashton Tedtaotao was 2 for 2 with a walk and run scored and Sean Balauro went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored.
The highlight game on Sunday was once again between 2 of the hottest 12under teams on Guam, the Tigers vs the Dodgers. The Dodgers got on the board early with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning off starting pitcher Xander Borja. It wasn't until the 3rd inning the Tigers were able to get things going with a run scored by Noa Mendiola. Leading by a score of 4-3 in favor of the Dodgers going to the top half of the 5th inning, the Tigers were able to send 9 runners across the plate with the combination timely hitting and taking advantage of Dodger mishaps. With the 2 hour time limit expired, the Tigers came out victorious by the score of 12-6. The Dodgers were lead by Javen Pangelinan who was 2 for 2 with a double and walk and scored 3 runs. The Tigers were lead by Raythan Sablan who was 3 for 4, scored a run and added an RBI.
Next Saturday's game will be Cougars vs Dodgers at 10am, and Sunday Tigers vs Cougars at 10am and Dodgers taking on the Thunder at 1230. All games are played at Okkodo High School Triple J Baseball Complex.
